Edward James Corkery, 75 of Waterloo, died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Windsor Nursing and Rehab Center, Cedar Falls.

He was born November 3, 1936 in Fairbank, son of Charles and Margaret Staebell Corkery. He married Marilyn Kathryn Werner on October 2, 1961 in Eagle Center. She died January 22, 2012.

Ed graduated from Immaculate Conception Catholic School, Fairbank, and was a machinist with John Deere for 42 years, retiring in 1996. He served in the US Army Reserves.

He is survived by four sons, Lowell (Cynthia) Corkery of Waterloo, Craig Corkery of Waterloo, Shawn (Corrine) Corkery of Raleigh, NC and Charlie Corkery of Waterloo; a daughter, Sue Corkery of Yankton, S.D.; three grandchildren, Cole, Evan and Camille; six brothers: Lou (Shelly) of Cedar Falls, Lawrence (Judy) of Jesup, Thomas (Regina) of Jesup, Leon of Moline, Ill., Dick (Mary Jo) of Springfield, Ill., Fr. Ray of Darien, Ill.; three sisters: Sr. Therese Corkery, PBVM of Alamo, Texas, Patti (Richard) Sulentic of Cedar Falls, and Mary Kail of Washington, Ill..

He was preceded in death by his wife; an infant daughter, Erin; three brothers, Bob, Mike and Paul Corkery.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 pm vigil. Visitation will continue for one hour before services at the church.

Memorials: Cedar Valley Hospice or St. Vincent DePaul Society.
