Stanton “Snap” Wagner, 92, of Waterloo, died Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Ravenwood Nursing & Rehab Center.

He was born July 8, 1920 in Waterloo, son of Joseph and Gladys Pauley Wagner. He married Dorothy Buttolph in June of 1944. She died March 21, 2010.

Snap was employed with John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 41 years, retiring in 1980. He was a veteran of WW II, serving in the Army Air Corps.

Survivors include six sons: Stan (Mary) of Greenwood Village, Colorado, David (Madonna) of Carmel, Indiana and Jim (Helen), Craig (Diana), Brian and Bruce (Lisa) all of Waterloo; two daughters, Diane Wagner of Waterloo and Brenda (Mark) Brown of Grundy Center; 12 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Joseph and Charles.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen Of Peace Catholic Church with burial in Calvary Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31 and the Iowa Army Honor Guard. Public visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, where there will be a 4 p.m. Legion Of Mary rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service. Visitation will continue at the church for an hour before services on Friday.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Hospice.
