Mildred I. “Millie” Lenz Peterson, 90, died October 9, 2012 at Covenant Medical Center, after complications from a fall.

She was born February 3, 1922 in Emmetsburg, daughter of Joseph and Mary Gallagher Schumacher. She married Ernest Lenz in 1942 in San Diego, Calif. He died in July 1979. She married Russell Peterson in 1983 in Waterloo. He died in September 2011.

Millie worked as an inspector at Rath Meat Packing Plant for eight years and at Chamberlin Mfg. Co. for sixteen years.

She is survived by three daughters: Margaret (Max) Klein, Patricia (David) Minard and Mary (Matthew) Jones all of Waterloo; two sons-in-law, Dan Sink and Jack Bott, both of Waterloo; twenty-six grandchildren and forty-five great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Dick) Ditch of Emmetsburg.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Ernest Lenz; her second husband, Russell Peterson; two daughters, Linda Sink and Carol Bott; a grandson, Scott Thompson; three sisters, Gertie McCarty, Margaret Kunz and Frances Coyle; a brother Eugene Schumacher.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, with entombment in Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Public visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a 7 p.m. vigil. Visitation also for an hour before services at the church on Friday.

Memorials may be made to Cedar Valley Catholic Schools.
