Kathleen Ann Krull, 76, of Cedar Falls, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Sunday, September 23, 2012. She was born October 2, 1935 in Waterloo, daughter of Eddie and Kate Johnson Brocka.

She married Ken Krull on August 19, 1956 at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Waterloo. She graduated from West High School in 1953, attended Wartburg College and graduated from ISTC with a Teacher’s Certificate. She was a teacher for Geneseo Schools and then taught at Orchard Hill Elementary, retiring in 1986. She had a passion for teaching, loved to bowl, watch birds at the lake, read, and was an avid Hawkeye and Cubs fan.

Kathy was a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a great-grandmother, a teacher and a friend. She was everyone's cheerleader. She was a smile when you needed one and voice of reason in crisis. She taught us so many things about life and about living. She taught us how to love and how to survive. We will miss her for so many reasons. We will miss her smile, her hugs, her teasing and her heart. The hardest part will be not being able to stop by and run something by her or hear her voice on the other end of the phone.

She fought a good fight and while the cancer may have consumed her body, she never let it control her. She never complained, never asked for a thing. It was one of the hardest things to do, but we finally let her go. We told her that it was time for her to quit worrying about us and that we wanted her to take care of herself. We wanted her to be pain free and find comfort in the arms of a Father who had his arms wide open for her. We had the good fortune of all being there with her on her last day, every single child and grandchild was there, one last kiss, one last time to hold her hand, one last time to tell her how much we loved her and that we loved her so much that we were willing to let her go and it allowed one last time to pray together. We prayed that God would take her home and that he would hold her in His arms. We believe that Jesus had his arms around her and carried her home that night. Her "Amen" that night was affirmation that she believed we would finally be fine without her.

We have incredible memories that will live in our hearts forever and we will smile when we think about her. Her place in our heart will always ache, but there will also be much joy in our hearts as we remember the countless ways she touched our hearts forever.

Kathy is survived by her husband Ken Krull of Cedar Falls, daughter Kelli (Dennis Hoeppner) Krull, of Cedar Falls, son Kurt (Virginia) Krull of Cedar Falls, son Kreg (Shari) Krull of Waterloo, daughter Kandi (Scott) Soldwisch of Benson, Iowa, daughter Kari Krull of Waterloo, eight grandchildren: Shawna, Dana, Katie, Kasey, Kyle, Randi Jo, Kelsey and Kaylin and one great grandchild Gauge.

She is preceded in death by sister Ila Faye.
