Margaret A. (Marge) Hulse, 83, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Allen Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, September 26, 2012.

Margaret Ann Westendorf was born April 25, 1929 in Tripoli, Iowa, the daughter of August and Minnie Kaiser Westendorf. She graduated from Grundy Center High School.

She married Marvin R. Hulse on August 11, 1952 in Kansas City, Missouri. He died December 19, 1980.

Marge worked as a telephone operator, then for Rath Packing Company until it closed, and then worked for Friendship Village. She was a member of First Lutheran Church, Rath Retirees and John Deere Retirees. Marge was a crafter... she knitted, crocheted, and did needlepoint pieces. She enjoyed spending time in her garden with her flowers. Marge loved people and she never met a stranger. She enjoyed fishing on the boat in Florida or trips to Minnesota and Canada Walleye fishing.

Marge enjoyed the time she spent with and the friendship she cultivated over 61 years with Bea Ackerman. They talked every day. Together they traveled together, including trips to Germany and Alaska and to the various World Fairs.

Marge is survived by her daughter Barb (James Raburn) Aswegan of Longwood, Florida; grandson Patrick Aswegan of Dallas, Texas; granddaughter Jennifer (Tom Amedi) Aswegan of Dallas; and great granddaughter Abbi.

She is preceded in death by her husband, sister Leona Dohrman, five brothers: Leo, Ted, Lawrence, Wilbur and Elmer Westendorf, and best friend Bea Ackerman.

Service Information: Services 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 29 at First Lutheran Church, 118 High St. in Waterloo. Visitation 4:00 to 7:00 PM, Friday, September 28 at Locke Funeral Home
