Lucille E. Burow, 94, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at NewAldaya Lifescapes on Monday, October 1, 2012.

Lucille Edna Shaw was born October 24, 1917 in Scranton, Iowa, the daughter of Charles A. and Edna M. (Brown) Shaw.

She graduated from Boone High School in 1935, graduated from Boone Jr. College in 1937, and then received her B.A. from Iowa State Teachers College in 1939.

She married Burtis Burow on December 26, 1945, in Boone, Iowa. He died June 29, 1998.

Mrs. Burow taught school in Graettinger, Boone, Battle Creek and Luther, Iowa. She was a member of Central Christian Church, Womens Group Leader, Sunday School teacher and superintendent, and active in choir and sewing group. She was Past President of Church Women United of Waterloo.

Lucille and Burt came to Waterloo in 1953 and after that she was a mother and homemaker. Lucille was a caring, loving, gentle, straight forward and genuine person. She was an accomplished seamstress and cook.

Mrs. Burow is survived by son Gary and his wife Niki of Citrus Heights, California, son Greg and his wife Deb of Cape May, New Jersey; granddaughter Lisa Burow; three grandsons Larry (Kendra), Adam and Ben Burow; and three great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother Robert Shaw.

Service Information:
Services Memorial Services 10:30 AM Thursday at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), 3475 Kimball Ave, Waterloo
Visitation for an hour before services at the church.
Cemetery her body has been donated to the University of Iowa

Memorials in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice
