Raymond G. Burk, 93, of Waterloo, Iowa, died at Rosewood Estate of Friendship Village on Monday, October 1, 2012 of natural causes.

Raymond George Burk was born April 27, 1918 in Bennington Township, Iowa, the son of George W. and Theresa Geier Burk.

He served in the Army during WW II.

Ray married Thelma Jocille Boxwell on May 13, 1950 in Cedar Rapids; she died February 25, 1997.

He worked as a carpenter for Reichert & Jewell Construction, John G. Miller Const., and retired from Cardinal Construction. Ray loved to go fishing and enjoyed woodworking.

Ray is survived by his sisters: Dorothy Bloom, Fonda Mae Stitt, and Mariam Einfelt, all of Waterloo, and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by four brothers: Clyde and LeRoy and two who died in infancy and four sisters: Florence Burk, Gladys Gorsuch, Marie Warneka and Irene M. Henry.

Services 1:30 p.m. Thursday, October 4, 2012 at Linden United Methodist Church, 301 Butler St. in Waterloo
Visitation 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home
Cemetery Garden of Memories Cemetery, Waterloo, Iowa with military rites by Waterloo Amvet #19 and Evansdale Amvet #31
