WATERLOO, IOWA — Linda B. Miller, 90, of Waterloo, died Saturday, October 6, 2012, at Lakeview Landing of Friendship Village, of natural causes.

She was born Nov. 5, 1921, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, daughter of Alex and Mary Katherine Emmert Benzel. She married Marvin L. Miller on Nov. 21, 1947, in Lincoln, Nebraska; he died March 16, 1997.

She graduated from Lincoln (Neb.) High School in 1940 and attended the University of Nebraska. During World War II she worked for the government for two years, including at the Pentagon. She was a member of Prairie Lakes Church, Cedar Falls, and PEO Chapter IX, and in 1965 was the first chairwoman of the Waterloo-Cedar Falls Christian Women’s Club. In 1976, she and her husband were with Campus Crusades during the “I Found It” Campaign, and they established the Grace Ministries Iowa counseling office in 1996. She volunteered at Friendship Village, Cedar Valley Hospice and Alternatives for Women.

Survived by two sons, Craig (LuAnn) of Eldora and Brad C. Miller of Fort Myers, Fla.; two granddaughters, Mandy and Katie Miller; a great-granddaughter, Neveah; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by four sisters: Hilda B. Donald, Lydia Zieg, Marie Miller and Natalie Becker; and a brother, Carl Benzel.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Thursday at Locke Funeral Home, preceded by family burial at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Locke Funeral Home.

Memorials: Friendship Village Foundation or Prairie Lakes Church.
