CEDAR FALLS — Arthur V. James, 68, of Merritt Island, Fla., formerly of Cedar Falls, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 4. 2012.

He was born Aug. 12, 1944, in Cedar Falls, son of Vernon and Dorothy James.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1962 and served in the U.S. Army for three years in Kansas and Germany. He earned a business degree from the University of Northern Iowa. Mr. James went on to work in the family business, James Motor Parts, until 1988 when he moved to Merritt Island. He continued to work in the auto parts business until his retirement.

Survived by his wife, Linda; two sons, Ray of Des Moines and Mark (Melissa) of Marion; two grandchildren, Abigail and Kyle James; two brothers, Rich (Dee) of Bettendorf and Paul (Karen) of Cedar Rapids; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his first wife, Judy James.

Memorial services: Thursday at Faith Lutheran Church, Merritt Island.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established by the family.
