Mark Trentz (1939-2012)

CEDAR FALLS — Mark Trentz, 72, of Cedar Falls, formerly of La Porte City, died Friday, Sept. 21, at Cedar Falls Health Care Center of cancer.

He was born Dec. 1, 1939, in Waterloo, son of Anthony and Theresa Nicko Trentz.

He married Karen Brooks on Aug. 5, 1961, and they later divorced. He married Judy Julson and they later divorced.

He graduated from Sacred Heart School in 1958. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. Mr. Trentz was employed with International Harvester as a diesel mechanic, taking a medical retirement.

Survived by two daughters, Lisa (Tony) Kerr of Waterloo and Ashley Sanders of Raymond, Wash.; a son, Jon (Jodi) of Dunkerton; three grandchildren, Tristan, Haylie and Hannah; two sisters, Jean (Hugh) Wright of Cedar Falls and Nettie Lazemby of Waterloo; and a brother, Tom (Marge) of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a sister, Rita.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway, with inurnment at a later date. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, and also for an hour before services Tuesday at the funeral home. Full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19, Evansdale Amvets Post 31, and the Iowa Army Honor Guard.
