LAURA SWANSON, 93Laura Adeline Swanson, 93, passed away on Tuesday, June 29, 1999 at Parkview Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.
She was born August 15, 1905 to Jay and Lou (Houghton) Armstrong in Waterloo. She married Frans Albert Swanson on August 5, 1927 in Waterloo. He proceeded her in death in 1975.
Mrs. Swanson was employed at the Black Hawk County Treasurer Office for twelve years, retiring in 1968. She was a graduate of Waterloo East High School and Northwestern College in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
She was a charter member of Faith Baptist Church in Hudson.
Survivors include three sons: Donald E. Swanson of Hudson, Gerald A. Swanson of Norfolk, Virginia, and O. Jay Swanson of Manti, Utah; one daughter, Marilyn Fight of Leavenworth, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren; twenty-two great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, three brothers, and three sisters.
Services were held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, 1999 at Faith Baptist Church in Hudson, with burial in Garden of Memories. Kearns, Husiman-Schumacher Chapel, downtown Waterloo was in charge of arrangements.
