Dorothy Marie Deeds, 64, died Saturday, April 24, 2004, in Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges of Hope Lutheran Church. Entombment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and after 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the chapel.

Survivors include her husband, Donald; a son, Walter Deeds and wife Holly of Atkins; a daughter, Shelley Drost and husband Matt of Cedar Rapids; a brother, Edward Shoop of California; two sisters, June Higgins of Indiana and Barbara Kennedy of Michigan; and four grandchildren, Alex and Jake Deeds, Derek Robertson and Dakota Drost.

She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Glenn Shoop.

Dorothy was born Jan. 13, 1940, in New Castle, Ind., to Edward W. and Lucille Goodwin Shoop. She married Donald L. Deeds on April 2, 1960, in Waterloo. She worked in the John Deere office in Waterloo from 1960 to 1980, and then in the parts purchasing department at Rockwell-Goss from 1980 to 1999.

Dorothy was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and sister, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
