HAAN, HOSEA, FISHER, DICKEN, SWAN

Evalynn M. (Eva) Haan, 56, of Waterloo, Iowa, died peacefully on Thursday morning, September 20, 2012, at the Cedar Valley Hospice Home in Waterloo from complications of cancer.

Eva was born on May 7, 1956, in Mount Clemens, Michigan, the daughter of Dale and Janet (Fisher) Hosea. Eva graduated from the Cedar Falls High School in 1974, and later earned her Associates Degree in Business.

Eva was united in marriage to Don Dicken and to this union three sons were born, Doug, David, Darrell. The couple later divorced. In 1991, Eva opened her own travel agency, "Cruise Travel & More" in Waterloo. Eva then was united in marriage to Harlan Swan, and Harlan died in November of 2000. On December 7, 2002, Eva was united in marriage to Dale A. Haan at the Cedar Falls Eagles Club. The couple made their home in Waterloo and Eva continued with her travel agency until June of 2012 when ill health forced her to retire.

Eva was a faithful member of the Bridge of Hope Church in Waterloo, where she started a ministry called, "Compassion Kitchen" a ministry to help families with food in a time of need. In her spare time she enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, which were the love of her life.

Eva is survived by her loving husband, Dale Haan of Waterloo, Iowa; her three sons and their families: Doug (Stephanie) Dicken of Denver, Iowa, and their children, Brody & Christina; David (Jennifer) Dicken of Waterloo, Iowa, and their children, Alina, Brayden, Keegan & Treyton; Darrell Dicken of Waterloo, Iowa; step-granddaughter, Stephanie Johansen and her children, Ben, Coty, Kenny, Kelsey, Jaci, & Michael; step-granddaughter, Kathleen Burcham and her daughter, Brianna; her mother, Janet Hosea of Cedar Falls, Iowa; and six brothers and one sister, Richard Hosea, Mike (Dee) Hosea, Jeff Hosea, Kevin (Amy) Hosea, Paula Hosea, all of Cedar Falls, Iowa, Dan Hosea of Manhattan, New York, and Chris Hosea of Cedar Falls. Eva is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Dale in 1998 and her second husband, Harlan in 2000.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Tuesday, September 25, 2012, at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Reformed Church, 520 Maxwell Street in Waterloo, Iowa, with Pastor Kevin Van Wyk and Pastor Armond (Fuzzy) Floyd from Bridge of Hope Church officiating. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in New Hartford. Public visitation will be held on Monday, September 24th from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly and also for an hour prior to services on Tuesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the Bridge of Hope Church in care of Compassion Kitchen or Vacation Bible School. Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home in Waverly is assisting the family. 319-352-1187.
