LA PORTE CITY -- Mayme C. Gill, 94, formerly of 603 Main St., died Wednesday, Oct. 6, 1999, at La Porte City Nursing and Rehab Center of natural causes.

She was born Sept. 7, 1905, in Benton County, daughter of Henry and Anna Frahm Lassen. She married Frank J. Gill on Feb. 10, 1925, in Eagle Center and they later divorced.

Mrs. Gill was employed as a janitor at the La Porte City Elementary Schools and at the La Porte City Library. She was a founding member of the La Porte City Artist Association and was a local artist.

Survived by three sons: Thomas of Fayetteville, Ark., Mark of Waterloo and Gregory of Virginia Beach, Va.; three daughters: Ann O'Connor and Marion Spence, both of La Porte City, and Karen McIntyre of Milton, Fla.; 28 grandchildren; 56 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by two sons, Jack and James; four brothers: Ernie, Severt, Everett and LeRoy Lassen; two sisters, Elsie Brandt and an infant; and a grandson.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with burial in West View Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Huisman Funeral Home, where there will be a 4 p.m. rosary and a 7 p.m. vigil service.

Memorials may be directed to Hawkins Library in La Porte City.
