CEDAR FALLS - Rachel M. Friis, 74, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Dec. 24, 1998, at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo, of cancer.

She was born May 18, 1924, in Waverly, daughter of John C. and Ella Kahagen Hildebrandt. She married Robert Friis on Sept. 7, 1945, in Nashua. He died Aug. 12, 1998.

She and her husband managed both the Washington Park Country Club and the Beaver Hills Country Club, and were partners in the Cypress Lounge, all in Cedar Falls. Until their retirement in 1983, they managed the Lake Creek Country Club in Storm Lake.

Survived by three sons: James of Cedar Falls, Scott of Arvada, Colo., and Dennis Hagenow of Cedar Falls; four grandchildren; and a brother, Harmon Hildebrandt of Sumner.

Preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Fitzhugh; two brothers; and a sister.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Wednesday for both Mrs. Friis and her husband at Nazareth Lutheran Church Chapel, with inurnment at a later date in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. There is no visitation. Richardson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
