Leonard M. Wood, age 86, of Waterloo, Iowa, died on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at Manor Care Health Services.

He was born April 13, 1920 in Waterloo, the son of Warren and Helen Eddy Wood. He married Marlys Sanford on March 29, 1942, in Yuma, Arizona. She died on January 27, 1995.

Mr. Wood was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Marines and retiring as a Lt. Colonel. He was employed with John Deere as a foundry engineer, retiring May 1, 1980.

Survivors include his son Steven S. (Sally) Wood, of Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin; two grandchildren, Tracy Wood of Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, and Adam (Andrea) Wood of Des Moines.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marlys, and his daughter Shannon.

Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 18, 2006 at Immanuel Presbyterian Church with burial in Waterloo Memorial Park Cemetery, where full military rites will be conducted by Waterloo Amvets Post 19 and Evansdale Amvets Post 31. Public visitation will be from 5-7 p.m., Sunday at Hagarty Waychoff Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Immanuel Presbyterian Church or Manor Care.
