WATERLOO — Melissa Mae “Missy” Higdon, 35, of Waterloo, died Thursday, July 12, at her home of natural causes.

She was born May 6, 1977, in Iowa City, daughter of John E. and Jeanne A. Schuler Higdon.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School and was employed with the CBE Group in Cedar Falls for the past five years.

Survived by her father, John E. (Amy) Higdon of Center Point; her mother, Jeanne A. (Jeff Albright) Schuler of Dunkerton; a daughter, Aaliyah Ja’Nae Pearson; two brothers, John M. (Amber) Higdon of Norwalk and Jacob A. Lichty on the USS George Washington in Japan; a sister, Reegan D. Lichty of Center Point; her paternal grandmother, Hilda Higdon of Evansdale; her paternal grandfather, Robert (Marilyn) Higdon of Independence; her steppaternal grandparents, Terry and Cathy Timmer of Waterloo; a nephew, Luke Higdon; special friends, Jackie Nieman, Sarah Ernst, Laura Pint-Anderson and Christopher Pearson; and many aunts and uncles.

Preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Chester and Eunice Schuler; and two uncles, Ronald and Mike Schuler.

Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Countryside Vineyard Church, Evansdale, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, with a 7 p.m. time of sharing. Visitation will continue for an hour before services Tuesday at the church.
