CEDAR FALLS — James Dean Birkes Jr., 49, of Lodi, Wis., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, July 7, from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident.

He was born Nov. 30, 1962, in Sioux City, son of James D. Sr. and Judith L. Peters Birkes. He married Annette Begonia on Dec. 31, 2005, in Cedar Falls.

Mr. Birkes graduated from North High School, Sioux City, and was an alumnus of the University of Northern Iowa. He was employed as a sales representative for Curtis 1000.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Katlyn of Pewaukee, Wis.; a son, Evan of Pewaukee; his parents of Sioux City; a brother, Randy of Sioux City; and a sister, Shelly Erwin of Sioux City.

Celebration of Life: 3 to 8 p.m. Friday at their home in Lodi. An additional celebration will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Grace Reformed Church, Waterloo, where memorial services begin at 3 p.m., followed by fellowship and a meal from 4 to 6 p.m. Picha Funeral Home, Porgage, is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to the Cedar Valley Acoustic Guitar Association.
