WATERLOO, IOWA - Jack R. Parks, 77, of Waterloo, died Saturday, June 2, 2012, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls, of a stroke.

He was born July 21, 1934, in Waterloo, son of Harley and Alice (Homan) Parks. He married Charlotte I. Forsyth on November 24, 1956, in Waterloo.

Mr. Parks served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He worked as a mechanic for Jim’s Truck Service, Takin Brothers, A&R Trucking, Lift Truck, CRST in Cedar Rapids, Wilbur Auto Body, Kroblin Transfer, and also did detail work for car rentals.

Jack is survived by his wife; a son, Robert (Penny) of Waterloo; a daughter, Charlene Paris of Waterloo; six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Stanley N. Nerade of Golden, Colorado; and two sisters, Opal Hanna of Waterloo and Patricia (Dick) Shores of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, David, Donald and James; and two sisters, Rosemary Tegtmeier and Marian Hahn.

Funeral services will be on Friday at Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball and an hour before services Friday at the church.
