WATERLOO — David C. Yarrington, 74, of Waterloo, died Sunday, July 8, at Allen Hospital of natural causes.

He was born July 5, 1938, in Waterloo, son of David and Katherine Brause Yarrington. He married Sally-Jo McCreedy on Sept. 6, 1958, at First United Methodist Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Yarrington graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1956 and from apprentice school at John Deere, specializing in machine maintenance. He worked at John Deere from 1964 to 1998, retiring as supervisor of quality control. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War, serving from 1956 to 1964.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Scott (Kim) of Cedar Rapids and Robert (Terri) of Waterloo; a daughter, Carla (Gaylen) Mulder of Parkersburg; 10 grandchildren, Seth, Shane, Rebecca, Diana, Elena, Justin, Caitlyn, Mike, Danae and Dylan; and three sisters: Marlys Walker of Albuquerque, N.M., and Evelyn Brandt and JoAnn Hare, both of Cedar Falls.

Preceded in death by three brothers: Ralph “Bill,” Robert and George; and two sisters, Donna Petersen and Frances Yarrington.

Services: 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Bible Church, with military rites by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49, followed by cremation and inurnment at a later date. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Locke Funeral Home.
