Mary J. Stoffregen, 85, of Waterloo, died Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at Covenant Medical Center.

She was born September 19, 1923 in Dubuque, daughter of George and Mary Welu Stierman.

She married William E. Stoffregen February 14, 1946 in Dubuque. He died December 9, 2004.

Mary graduated from the Finley School of Nursing in Dubuque. She worked for Drs. Mowbrey and Smith, retiring in 1985.

Survivors include two sons, Thomas W. (Kay) and James C. (Beth), both of Waterloo; a daughter, Kathy A. (John) Lange of Waterloo; five grandsons, Chris (Lisa) Stoffregen of Marietta, GA, Nathan (Rena) Stoffregen of Las Vegas, Nev., Ben (Amber Allen) Stoffregen of Virginia Beach, Va., Dr. Nicholas Stoffregen of Denver, Colo and Matthew (Lorie) Lange of Centennial, Colo; and six great-grandchildren, Jacob Stoffregen, Ryan Stoffregen, Breanna Lange, Katie Lange, Isaac Stoffregen and William Stoffregen and one on the way.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Memorial Park Chapel, Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial in the cemetery. Public visitation will be from 5:00 – 8:00 p.m. Friday at Hagarty – Waychoff – Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Saturday at the chapel.
