WATERLOO — Ernest Pines Jr., 73, of Tampa, Fla., formerly of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, May 9, 2012.

He was born in Tounggyi, Burma, and was later adopted by Ernest and Iris Pines. He married Tamara Galloway on Dec. 22, 1962.

Mr. Pines graduated from East High School. After college he worked at Woodward State Hospital, Goodwill Industries and Iowa State Vocational Rehabilitation Center. In 1975 he purchased the Florida School of Dog Grooming and retired from there in 2004.

Survived by his wife; a son, David (Dana) of Tampa, Fla.; one grandson; three sisters, Deborah Pines and Susan Carr, both of Cedar Falls, and Rebecca Venenga of Denver; and a brother, Lee of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a son, Jayson.

Memorial services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Nazareth Lutheran Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Serenity Meadows Memorial Park, Riverview, Fla., at a later date.
