WATERLOO - Beverly J. Mathews, 84, of Waterloo, died Sunday, May 6, 2012 at Allen Hospital.

She was born Jan. 30, 1928, in Fayette County, daughter of Wilbur and Viona Reed Wilson.

She married Paul Bartz on May 19, 1944, in Westgate. He preceded her in death. She married Paul Mathews on April 21, 1984, in Elk Run Heights. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Mathews was a home health care worker, a waitress and bartender and was employed with the Black Hawk County Health Department, retiring in 1985.

Survived by a son, Russell (Dreama) Bartz of Washburn; six daughters, Carol (Martin) Clever of Westminster, Colo., Alice (Gary Sauser) Erickson of Elk Run Heights, Linda (Jerry) Niebergall of Evansdale, Luann (Bob) Carlson of La Porte City, Denise Neal of Loveland, Colo., and Diann Metsale of Waterloo; 16 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; numerous stepgrandchildren, stepgreat-grandchildren and stepgreat-great-grandchildren; and a brother, John (Kathy) Wilson of Fairbanks, Alaska.

Preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tresa Hawbaker; a great-granddaughter, Izzabella Tambornino; a stepgreat-grandson, Joshua Mapp; and a sister, Joanne Monroy.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Countryside Vineyard Church, Evansdale, with burial in Fairview Cemetery. Waterloo. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on West Ridgeway and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
