CEDAR FALLS - Randy D. Messerly, 61, of Cedar Falls, died at home Sunday, May 6, 2012.

He was born Oct. 3, 1950, son of Francis L. and Mary I. Hamlin Messerly. He married Julie A. Mills on Aug. 19, 1980, in Waterloo.

Mr. Messerly graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1967 and served in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. He was employed with Goodwill Industries of NE Iowa as superintendent of buildings.

Survived by his wife; a daughter, Star Marie (Mike) Rupe of Waverly; a son, Francis "Tally" (Samantha) of Denver, Colo.; and three grandchildren, MacKenzie Ann, Carlie Addison and Jace Michael Rupe.

Preceded in death by his parents.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Finchford Community Bible Church, with burial in Finchford Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Richardson Funeral Service, Cedar Falls, and for an hour before services Thursday at the church.
