CEDAR FALLS - Helen E. Harken Briden, 94, of Cedar Falls, died Friday, April 20, 2012 at Bartels Lutheran Retirement Community, Waverly.

She was born Jan. 30, 1918, in New Hartford, daughter of Chester and Muriel Harmon. She married Lloyd E. Harken on Aug. 9, 1935, in St. Paul's Methodist Church, Waterloo. He died in 1991. She married Ralph Briden in 1996 at First United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls.

Mrs. Briden attended schools in La Porte City and Waterloo. She owned and operated ABC Nursery, retiring in 1975.

Survived by her husband of Shell Rock; a daughter, Patricia of Des Moines; two sons, Ed (Mary) of Cedar Falls and Steven (Karel) of Raymore, Mo.; a stepson, Keith Briden of Waterloo; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sally Kurt of Waterloo; and brother, Kenneth Harmon of Minneapolis.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Naomi Bolton and Hazel Glassel.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at Richardson Funeral Service, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday and for an hour before services Saturday at the funeral service.
