CEDAR FALLS, IOWA — Johannes "John" Meier, 52, of Salt Lake City, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, May 11, 2012, of complications of scleroderma.

He was born November 16, 1959, in Davenport, Iowa, the son of John and Sue Meier. He married Trisha Foot on May 4, 1996.

He graduated from Cedar Falls High School, then the University of Northern Iowa and earned his master of science degree from the University of Utah. Mr. Meier started working for Hy-Vee, then was a store director for Dan’s Foods, Salt Lake City, and Excel Cabinets.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Brandon (Tiffany), Larry (Brandi) and Tyler (Brittnee), all of Utah; a daughter, Montana of Utah; his mother, Sue of Cedar Falls; two brothers, Daniel of Heber, Utah, and Mark (Linda) of Lakeville, Minn.; two grandchildren; three nieces; and a nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Celebration of life services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Hartman Reserve Nature Center, Cedar Falls, with reception to follow.
