CEDAR FALLS - Ruth E. Rohm, 89, of Cedar Falls, died Monday, Aug. 13, 2012 at Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center of Western Home Communities.

She was born May 29, 1923, in Williams, daughter of Jake and Nora Anderson. She married Marvin Rohm on July 31, 1948, in Lake Mills.

Mrs. Rohm graduated from Iowa State Teachers College (University of Northern Iowa) and served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. She was a teacher in a one-room school house, then taught elementary school in Cedar Falls for many years.

Survived by her husband; a son, Eric (Tina) of Orlando, Fla.; two daughters, Kathleen Rohm of House Springs, Mo., and Nikki Rohm of Austin, Texas; four grandchildren; and fi ve great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Gabriel.

Services: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Western Home Communities Chapel, preceded by an hour of visitation, with burial in Cedar Valley Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be conducted by

Cedar Falls AMVETS Post 49. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial fund will be established for a teaching scholarship at UNI in her memory.
