Dick Svobodny (1941-2012)

CEDAR FALLS — Dick Svobodny, 70, of Spring Lake, Minn., formerly of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, April 12, 2012.

He was born Aug 21, 1941, in New Prague, Minn., son of William S. and Helen Elsie Kajer Svobodny. He married Diana Benes on June 22, 1963, in New Prague.

Mr. Svobodny worked at John Deere Waterloo Tractor Works for 24 years, retiring in 2000.

Survived by his wife; a son, Doug ( Patty) of Lakeville, Minn.; a daughter, Deb (David) Griffith of Eagan, Minn.; four grandchildren; and two sisters, Shirley Scheffert of Montgomery, Minn., and Mary Svobodny of Blooomington, Minn.

Services: 10 a.m. Monday at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, New Prague, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Bruzek Funeral Home, New Prague.
