EVANSDALE — Lester John “Les” Fuhrmann, 67, of Evansdale, died Sunday, April 8, 2012 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born June 13, 1944, in Crow Wing County, Minn., son of Hugo and Pearl Kinney Fuhrmann. He married Susan Sheeley on Feb. 6, 1966.

A U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam conflict, Mr. Fuhrmann retired from John Deere in 1996 with 30 years of service. He was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, Evansdale.

Survived by his wife; a son, Christopher “Chris” (Angie) of Dunkerton; a daughter, Jeana Little of Elk Run Heights; four grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a brother, Lee (Peggy) of Rolla, Mo.; and two sisters, Darlene Pitts and Margaret (Charles) Stocks of Evansdale.

Memorial services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. Iowa Cremation of Cedar Rapids is assisting the family.

Memorials may be directed to the church, Cedar Valley Hospice or the American Heart and Lung Association.

Lester’s hobbies included fishing, woodworking and quilting. He had many other sewing projects, including making kids’ surgical hats for the Allen Hospital volunteers’ program.
