WATERLOO — Ingeborg F. Battiato, 93, of Waterloo, formerly of Queens, N.Y., died Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Cedar Valley Hospice Home.

She was born March 16, 1919, in New Jersey, daughter of Leo and Emma Ischdonot Lewin. She married Charles Battiato on June 20, 1944, in Elizabeth, N.J. He died Aug. 18, 1969.

Mrs. Battiato was a homemaker and also worked as a cashier at the United Artist Theater in Queens for 10 years. She was past president of PTA at PS93 in Ridgewood, N.Y., and served as an election board inspector. She was a member of Trinity-St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church Maspeth, Queens.

Survived by a son, Steven of Waterloo; three daughters, Joanann Boyer of Waterloo, Inger Battiato Bosco of Orlando, Fla., and Janet Di Stefano of Long Island, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a son, Charles; and two brothers, Erwin and William Lewin.

There will be no local services. Cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment will take place at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Brooklyn, N.Y. The Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Memorials may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Ingeborg moved to Iowa in 1993. She was well known for her crocheting skills and made numerous afghans, baby booties, blankets and other items for people around the Cedar Valley.
