Ronald D. Buchanan (1931-2009)

WATERLOO, IOWA - Ron Buchanan, 78, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly of Waterloo, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009 at Banner Baywood Medical Center in Mesa.

He was born June 27, 1931 in Jamestown, North Dakota, son of Paul and Mayme (Willey) Buchanan. He married Coila A. Daniels on November 27, 1952. She died February 19, 1998.

Mr. Buchanan served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He was employed with Paulsen Heating and Cooling for twenty years, and in 1978 he owned and operated Buchanan Heating and Cooling, retiring in 1981.

Survivors include four sons, Paul (Judy) of Waterloo, Brian (Debi) of Ozark, Alabama, Michael of Cherry Grove, Indiana, and Dan (Patty Christensen) of Waterloo; two daughters, Ronda (Steven) Zeiner of Mesa, Arizona and Susan (Don) Roughan of Scottsdale, Arizona; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Jim (Addie) Buchanan of McAllen, Texas, Harvey (Lenora) Buchanan of Roy, Utah, Robert (Wanda) Buchanan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lloyd (Martha) Buchanan of Waterloo; a sister, Margaret Stout of Columbia, Missouri; and a special friend, Jean.

Preceded in death by a brother, Paul Buchanan, and a sister Loretta Norris.

Services will be held 1:30 p.m. Monday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Full Military Honors will be conducted by Cedar Falls AMVETS Post #49. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, and also for one hour prior to services Monday.
