Karen Henriksen was born September 5, 1939, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the daughter of Harvey I. and Wilma A. (Handy) Hansen. She died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo.

She graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1957. On December 19, 1959, she was united in marriage to H. Milton Henriksen in Cedar Falls. She was employed in the UNI business office from 1957-1972, then worked with her husband in their farming operation, and finally was at Friendship Village in Waterloo from 1990 thru 2002. She played organ at Mt. Hope United Methodist Church where she also served as secretary.

Karen is survived by her husband, Milton of Waterloo; daughters, Carmen Kay (Ryan) Nelson of Altoona, IA and Cindy S. (Brian) Deuser of Lake in the Hills, IL; nephew (whom they raised) Staff Sergeant John G. Sanches of Ft. Polk, LA; granddaughters, Olivia Grace Nelson of Altoona and Maggie Nicole Deuser of Lake in the Hills, IL; mother, Wilma Hansen of Cedar Falls; and sisters, Marylln Peterson of San Antonio, TX and Betty Hansen of Cedar Falls.

She was preceded in death by her father.
