Christine Beck, 95, of Peoria, IL, formerly of Cedar Falls, died Friday, December 22, 2006, in Peoria. She was born December 31, 1910, in Grundy County, the daughter of Enno and Anna (Lupkes) Barkhoff.

She married L.J. "Louie" Beck at St. John American Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls on August 3, 1936. He died October 19, 1976.

She was employed by Cedar Falls Community Schools and later with Western Home Communities in food service, retiring in 1975.

Survived by three daughters, Linda (Erlin) Ruby of Peoria, IL, Barbara (Thomas) Clark of Cedar Falls, and Jennifer (John) Rader of Lake Barrington Shores, IL; three brothers, Louie (Jeanette) Barkhoff of Minneapolis, MN, Archie (LaVonne) Barkhoff of Waverly, and George (Wilma) Barkhoff of Cedar Falls; two sisters, Helen Shelton of Cedar Falls, and Elsie Vold of Takoma, WA; eight grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Fred, Bennie, and Paul Barkhoff; and a sister, Annie Broeker.

Services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Friday, at St. John American Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls. Public visitation will be for one hour prior to services at the church on Friday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church.
