Duane Kloostra was born June 23, 1942, in Indianapolis, IN, the son of John Henry and Eulalia Fay (Zickel) Kloostra. He died Monday, January 3, 2005, at his home in Cedar Falls.

He was confirmed at College Hill Lutheran Church and graduated from Northern University High School in 1960; later attending UNI for one year. He was employed as a work simplification manager at Waterloo John Deere Tractor Works for 32 years and also an avid horseman, formerly owning Country Music Ranch, a breeder of Arabian horses. He currently was a custodian at St. John American Lutheran Church in Cedar Falls, beginning in July of 2003. He was a member of the Waterloo Lodge #105 of AF & AM, where he served as worshipful master in 1989, Waterloo Chapter #128 of O.E.S., El Kahir Shrine in Cedar Rapids, and the Waterloo Lodge #764 F.O.E. He received immense pleasure from the time he spent at Boy's State, singing karaoke, working with Meals on Wheels and the time he spent helping others,

Duane is survived by his daughter, Kathryn Ann (Mike) Evans of Raleigh, NC; son, David Duane (Patricia) Kloostra of Edwardsville, IL; mother, Eulalia Kloostra of Cedar Falls; five grandchildren; and brother, Leon (Christy) Kloostra of Rowlett, TX.

He was preceded in death by his father.
