WATERLOO — M. Ruth Purdy Uthe, 92, of Westmont, Ill., formerly of LaFeria, Texas, and Waterloo, died Monday, March 26, at her daughter and son-in-law’s home in Westmont.

She was born June 14, 1919, in Waterloo, daughter of Archie William and Marie E. Aasgaard Kilby. She later married J. Denton Purdy on Aug. 26, 1951, in Kirksville, Mo. He died Jan. 2, 1986. She married Bernard Uthe on Oct. 22, 1994, in Harlingen, Texas. He died Sept. 24, 1995.

Mrs. Uthe worked as a payroll clerk at Hinson Manufacturing for eight years and was a secretary at Allen Hospital for 19 years, retiring in 1981. She was a charter member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.

Survived by a daughter, Sharon (Gary) Faleide of Westmont; three stepdaughters, Jackie (Joe) McGrane of Neenah, Wis., Kay Russell of Jackson, Mich., and Jane (James) Twyman of Edina, Minn.; a granddaughter; eight stepgrandchildren; and several stepgreat-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by three brothers, Alvin, Archie and John Harley Kilby; and three sisters, Florence Johnson, Ardith Kaltenbach and Marion Place.

Services: 2 p.m. Friday at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, with burial in Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel and for an hour before services Friday at the church.
