WATERLOO — Ralph M. Kocher, 80, of Waterloo, died Monday, March 26, at Allen Hospital.

He was born Sept. 25, 1931, in La Porte City, son of Charles W. and Constance A. Thompson Kocher. He married Nellie Lura Walters on June 20, 1954, in Washburn.

Mr. Kocher served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict and Vietnam, retiring after 22 years of service. He then worked for Pella Products for 20 years, retiring in 1996. He was a member of the La Porte City American Legion, the Waterloo AMVETS and the VFW.

Survived by his wife; a son, Terry (Robyn) of Dakota City; two daughters, Lori Kocher of Guttenberg and Beth McGilvrey of Newton; four grandchildren; a great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Kocher of Bettendorf.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Richard and Ronald; and a sister, Jean Anne Kocher.

Services: 1 p.m. Saturday at Garden View Chapel Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Waterloo AMVETS Post 19, Evansdale Post AMVETS Post 31 and Iowa National Guard Honor Detail. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday and an hour before services Saturday at the chapel.

Memorials may be directed to the American Lung Association or the family.
