WATERLOO - Karolyn E. "Dee" Harmon, 63, of Waterloo, died Saturday, March 17, at home.

She was born Aug. 8, 1948, in Manchester, daughter of Charles and Doris Silker Gull. She was one of four daughters who grew up on a farm in Greeley. She met Jay Harmon at the University of Dubuque, and they were married on Aug. 26, 1967, at the Methodist Church, Greeley. She graduated from Allen School of Nursing and worked at Schoitz Memorial Hospital for 10 years. She then retired to raise her four children. She was active in church and taught Sunday School for years at Westminster Presbyterian. She volunteered with several local nursing homes. She was a kind and gentle person. She loved being a mother and a grandmother, and will be missed by us all.

Survivors include her husband; two daughters, Niki (Dave) Boller of Cedar Rapids and Anne (Ted) Silverstein of Chicago; two sons, Dave and Nathan, both of Cedar Falls; two grandchildren, Anna and Ellie Boller; and three sisters, Kathy Heyer, Mary Parker and Dodie Leners.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with burial in Orange Township Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Locke Funeral Home, and for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Friends who wish may direct memorials to Westminster Presbyterian Church for youth and children's ministries, or Cedar Valley Hospice.
