WATERLOO, Iowa - Jerry Weber, 75, of Waterloo, died at home Wednesday, March 14, of COPD.

He was born Feb. 25, 1937, in Waterloo, son of Louis “Lou” and Regina Thome Weber. He married Marcia Fauser on Feb. 11, 1957, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Waterloo.

Mr. Weber graduated from St. Mary’s High School, Waterloo, in 1955, and was a veteran of the Army Reserve. He was employed at John Deere Tractor Mfg. Co. for 29 years, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and St. Vincent de Paul Society.

Survived by his wife; two sons, Mark and Paul, both of Waterloo; two daughters, Julie Berendes and Angie (Dwayne) Swanger, both of Waterloo; seven grandchildren, Ryan Weber, Amanda (Eddie) Kies, Chassidy (Keith) Bumgardner, Chaz (Alyson) Weber, Josh, Jenifer and Jordan Berendes; 10 great-grandchildren, Natalie, Ricky, Billy, Emmalee, Eddie, William, Alex, Gabi, Kylier and Joshua; a brother-in-law, Max Ortner of Waterloo; two sisters, Nancy (Glenn) Kuehl of Cedar Falls and Becky (Bob) Rea of Ontario, Canada; and a sister-in-law, Ginny Weber of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by a grandson, Joder Berendes; a brother, Bob; and a sister, Pattie Ortner.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by the Waterloo AMVETS Post 19 and the Evansdale AMVETS Post 31. Visitation from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street, where there will be a Third Degree Knights of Columbus and Catholic Order of Foresters rosary at 4 p.m. and a vigil at 7 p.m. Visitation also for an hour before services Monday at the church.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, Cedar Valley Hospice, Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Catholic Charities, Make-a-Wish Foundation or to help the Cubs win.
