Death of Miss Susie Coolidge.

The sad news was received here Tuesday evening that Susie Coolidge only daughter left of Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Coolidge, had died at Santa Barbara, California, that morning. Her death was not unexpected, and yet its final coming saddened and shocked all the friends of the family.

The deceased spent most of her school-days here and was a general favorite with a large circle of friends. Several years ago her failing health made necessary a change of climate, and she has spent summers and winters at various points, hoping that each change would be for the better, and in this protracted struggle for health the sympathies of our citizens have always been keenly alert.

In November last her father started with her for California, in hopes that the climate there might be the thing needful. But the hope was vain, and in her death the stricken parents are left childless, the eldest daughter dying a few years ago, and a son before the removal of the family hereafter.

Mr. Coolidge was to leave Santa Barbara last night with the remains, and expected to reach Waterloo on Tuesday next.

Funeral services will probably be held at the house, Rev. E. N. Barrett, former pastor officiating. Notice of the hour for these services will be announced.

Miss Coolidge has been in poor health for some time and has sought relief from the rigors of our winters in more southern latitudes. The past winter was spent in California but the change of climate was of no avail. The bereaved parents, thus left childless, have the sincere sympathy of all.
