LA PORTE CITY, IOWA - LeMar F. Pettengill, 82, of Beaconsfield, formerly of La Porte City, died Sunday, February 26, at Cornerstone Hospice Home, near his winter home in Tavares, Florida.

He was born January 4, 1930, in Polk City, son of Mahlon and Martha Hughes Pettengill. He married Ella Belle Burrell on June 20, 1949, in Knoxville.

Mr. Pettengill owned and operated LeMar’s Welding & Repair and also was a general contractor for Martin Marrietta. He retired in 1996.

Survived by: his wife; four sons, Chris (Bridget) of Goodyear, Ariz., Galen (Bobbie) and Raymond, both of La Porte City, and Ron of Delphi, Ind.; two daughters, Connie (Mike) Neessen of Beaconsfield and Sis (Rob) Leeper of Urbana; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two brothers, Randy (Carol) of Morehead, Minn., and Mike (Patty) of Golden City, Mo.; and two sisters, Esther (Gene) O’Rouke of Webster City and Marcella Turner of Lamont.

Preceded in death by two brothers, Hurly and Larry; and three sisters, Ethlyn Riggle, Dorothy Jean Lesh and Connie Pettengill.

Private family graveside inurnment: in West View Cemetery, La Porte City, at a later date. La Porte City Funeral Service is assisting the family with arrangements.

LeMar has resided in Beaconsfield for the last 16 years. He enjoyed fishing, camping, woodworking and golfing. He also loved spending time with his family and his dog Spike.
