Ronald Malvern Paulsen, 81, of New Hartford died Wednesday, July 12, 2006 at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo. Ronald was born April 23, 1925 in Chicago, Illinois the son of August & Della (Jensen) Paulsen.

He married Beverly J. Beare May 29, 1946 in Evansdale, Iowa. Ronald’s father died when he was 6 years old and he and his mother moved to Rock Falls, Illinois where he attended grade school. They moved to the Waterloo area in 1938 where he attended and was an Armed Force Graduate of East High School. He also went on to attend U.N.I. Ronald served in the U.S. Marines for 6 years; 2 years in the South Pacific during WWII and then was called back for the Korean War. He worked for Rath Packing Company, Chamberlain Manufacturing Company and then for John Deere at the P.E.C. where he retired in 1985.

Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Beverly; one daughter, Linda (Kerry) Resewehr of Cedar Falls; two sons, Ronald Mark (Carol) Paulsen of Cedar Falls and David Paulsen of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Kevin Flockhart, Jo Dee Flockhart, John Paulsen and Chandra Bell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2006 at United Methodist Church with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, both in New Hartford. Military Rites will be conducted by Guyer-Bickner American Legion Post #660 from New Hartford. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday at the Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home and for one hour prior to service time at the church. Memorials may be directed to the church.

Ronald was past president of the New Hartford Lions Club, a member of the American Legion in New Hartford, and a regular member of the Y.M.C.A. in Waterloo. He loved his family.
