WATERLOO — Mary Lee Johnson, 82, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 24, at Sartori Memorial Hospital, Cedar Falls.

She was born Feb. 6, 1930, in Afton, daughter of Hugo and Erma Karns Carter, and was raised by her stepfather, John McCann. She married Bennie Johnson on April 30, 1947, in Cedar Falls. He died Dec. 4, 2004.

Mrs. Johnson was a custodian at Hawkeye Community College for 16 ½ years, retiring in 1985.

Survived by two sons, Bennie Lee (Kathy) of Evansdale and Robert (Gaylene) of Waterloo; four daughters, Mary (Alan) Huisman and Kathy R. (Virgil) Marvets, both of Evansdale, and Bonnie (Jerry) Wilson and Annette (Kevin) Tranby both of Waterloo; 15 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a brother, Rex (Virginia) Carter of Lebanon, Mo.; and four sisters, Joan Tietsort of Rock Island, Ill., Betty (Bob) Bradford of Wildwood, Fla., Patsy (Larry) Mostek of Covington, Ga., and Diane (Vern) Russell of Nichols.

Preceded in death by two grandsons, Ronny McGee and Kevin Tranby Jr.

Services: 2 p.m. Monday at Kearns, Huisman-Schumacher Chapel on Kimball, with burial in the Waterloo Cemetery. Visitation from 3 to 6 p.m. today and an hour before services Monday at the chapel.
