CEDAR FALLS - Jack J Bienfang, 85, of Cedar Falls, formerly Grundy Center, died Tuesday, Feb. 21, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

He was born Oct. 12, 1926, in Grundy Center, son of Elgin "Buster" and Ivadean Schuck Bienfang. He married Carrol Appel, and they later divorced. He married Suzan Paige Dieken on Oct. 12, 1979, at First Presbyterian Church, Grundy Center.

Mr. Bienfang served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a U.S. Postal Service employee for 32 years, retiring in 1984. He also served 33 years on city council and a term as mayor.

Survived by his wife; two stepdaughters, Amy (Chad) Bullock of Emily, Minn., and Audrey (Levi) Sires of Waterloo; a daughter, Doris (Wayne) Wrage; several grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, Madison, Dawson and McKenzie, all of Emily; three brothers, Jim and Gary (Judy), both of Grundy Center, and Don (Ruth) of Blue Springs, Mo.; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by a half brother, Leo; and a sister-in-law, Anna Mae.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday at United Methodist Church, Grundy Center, where visitation begins at 9 a.m. Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
