CEDAR FALLS - Mark E. Andorf, 58, of Cedar Falls, passed away peacefully with his children by his side on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at St. Mary's Hospital, Blue Springs, Mo., after a long and tough battle with Alzheimer's.

Mark was born Sept. 3, 1953, in Waterloo, to Ewald and Leora Andorf. Mark followed in his dad's footsteps and worked for John Deere as a machinist for 35 years, forced to retire after his diagnosis of Alzheimer's.

He was a proud UAW member. Mark's No. 1 priority was always his children. He loved spending time with his kids. He especially enjoyed trips to Wisconsin Dells, fishing and camping in Bluffton and skiing in Colorado. He was also a loving son, brother and uncle, and will be missed by all who knew him.

Mark is preceded in death by his father, Ewald Andorf, and an older brother, David Andorf.

Survivors include daughter Lindsey Andorf, and son Mason Andorf, both of Blue Springs; mother Leora Andorf of Cedar Falls; brother John Andorf (Linda) of Perry; sister Mary Ellen Ames (Elliot) of Vorhees, N.J.; three nephews; two nieces; Mark's John Deere family; and many lifelong friends and relatives.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, at Dahl-Van Hove-Schoof Funeral Home, 1825 W. 12th St., Cedar Falls, with visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He will be laid to rest privately by his family in several of his favorite places: Colorado, Bluffton and his family farm.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. The family would personally like to thank Sande and Mike Armstrong for opening their home and their hearts to graciously help Mark through this tough disease.
