LA PORTE CITY - Wayne C. Lange, 88, of La Porte City, died Tuesday, Feb. 14, at his winter home in Casa Grande, Ariz., of natural causes.

He was born Dec. 9, 1923, in Spring Creek Township, Black Hawk County, son of Artemus W. and Pearl C. Miller Lange. He married Lois Jean Nath on May 31, 1947, in Toterville.

Mr. Lange served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the La Porte City American Legion USS San Diego Post 207. He and his wife owned and operated Lange Trucking and Feed, La Porte City, from 1950-1985.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Brenda (Philip) Smith of La Porte City and Diane (David) Rogers of Elk Run Heights; three grandchildren, Justin (Kristen) Rogers of Waterloo, Gail Huffman of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Barb (Dave) Hodges of Crown Point, Ind.; five great-grandchildren; a sister, Gladys (Jerry) Weatherly of La Porte City; and a sister-in-law, LaVonne (Bert) Ferguson of Austin, Minn.

Preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Stephan; a brother, Lavonne "Bunny;" and a sister, Wiona Morrison.

Memorial Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at American Lutheran Church, preceded by an hour of visitation, with inurnment in West View Cemetery, both in La Porte City. Graveside military rites will be conducted by the La Porte City American Legion USS San Diego Post 207 and the VFW Post 3983. La Porte City Funeral Service is in charge of arrangements

Memorials may be directed to the family in lieu of flowers.

One of Wayne's greatest joys was fishing.
