WATERLOO - Sandra "Sandy" Shepard, 69, died Monday, Feb. 13, at Allen Hospital of complications of pulmonary hypertension.

She was born Nov. 4, 1942, in Belfast, Northern Ireland, daughter of Thomas and Susan Miller Sommerville. She married Charles Kent Shepard on April 22, 1963, in Minnesota.

Mrs. Shepard was a waitress for the Colony Club and Porky's Red Carpet Club, followed by working at Quick Star and Kmart. She was a deaf sign language instructor and also a homemaker.

Survived by her husband; a son, Randy of Faribault, Minn.; a daughter, Tracey Shepard of Waterloo; a granddaughter; two great-grandsons; two sister-in-laws, Cindy McGeough of Waterloo and Ellen Sommerville of Belfast, Ireland; two nieces, Laura Sommerville of Belfast, and Melanie (David) Stephan of London, England; and a nephew, Matthew (Andrea) McGeough of Waterloo.

Preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Tom Sommerville.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Heartland Vineyard Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Public visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Hagarty-Waychoff-Grarup Funeral Service on South Street. Visitation also for an hour before services Thursday at the church.

Memorials may be directed the family.
