CEDAR FALLS - William T. "Mr. J" Jochumsen, 91, of Cedar Falls, died Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Western Home Communities Elizabeth E. Martin Health Center.

He was born June 7, 1920, in Fayette County, son of Axel W. and Gertrude M. Hersey Jochumsen.

Mr. Jochumsen served in the U.S. Army during World War II and earned a BA in music in 1942 and MA in administration in 1958 from the University of Northern Iowa. He was employed with Greenfield Community Schools as band director for 10 years and elementary principal for 27 years, retiring in 1983.

In retirement, he volunteered at Greenfield Schools, Lincoln Elementary, Cedar Falls Library, Sartori, Salvation Army, Western Home Communities, Lutheran Home, Cedar Falls Community Theatre, Cedar Falls Historical Society, and Community Meals. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls.

Survived by a niece, Pamela (Chuck) Chrisman of Ojai, Calif.

Preceded in death by two sisters, Wilma Mae "Billie" Brewster and Dorothy L. Muir.

Services: 11 a.m. Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Cedar Falls, with burial in Oakhill Cemetery, Parkersburg. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Richardson Funeral Service and also for an hour before services Saturday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to the church or Lincoln Elementary School
