WATERLOO - Gladys M. Erie, 76, of Waterloo, died Saturday, Feb. 11, at Covenant Medical Center after a lengthy illness.

She was born Oct. 19, 1935, in Porter Township, Clarion County, Pa. She married Nordine "Dean" Erie on Dec. 31, 1954, in Omaha, Neb.; he preceded her in death Jan. 11, 1996.

Mrs. Erie graduated from Redbank Valley High School in 1954.

Survived by a son Greg (Christine) of Waterloo; two daughters, Belinda (Joe) Landis of Marcell, Minn., and Cindy (Rockney Sr.) Lesh of Waterloo; four grandchildren, Carrie (Kelly) Martin, Rockney Jr. and Havenn Lesh and Henry Erie; three great-grandchildren, TaShara and TaLeeah Erie and TaNeesa Martin; and a brother, Rueben Painter of Rimersburg, Pa.

Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three brothers, Bruce, Merle, and Pete Painter; and two sisters, Parma Sheer and Frances Crisman.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Friday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories, an Overton Family Service, Waterloo.

Memorials may be directed to the family. Friends will be received at 1018 Downing Ave. in Waterloo.

She enjoyed coloring with her grandkids, word search puzzles, sewing and crafts. Gladys also liked to cook and eat! Most of all, she loved spending time with her family and loved her grandkids dearly. Gladys loved to laugh, she was always laughing. She was a strong miracle lady referred to as "one tough old bird." Gladys will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
