CEDAR FALLS - Ruth I. Beery, 82, of Cedar Falls, died Thursday, Feb. 9, at Cedar Valley Hospice Home, Waterloo.

She was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Manchester, daughter of Dorin D. and Hazel May Anderson DeLancey. She married William E. Beery Dec. 21, 1947, in Waterloo. He died June 14, 2001.

She graduated from Waterloo East High School in 1946. She was employed for more than 18 years with Johnson, Bailey and Associates Inc., as a bookkeeper, secretary and insurance agent, retiring in 1989.

Survived by: two sons, Richard (Laura) of Denver and Randall (Karen) of El Cajon, Calif.; a daughter, Marilyn (Tedd) Devick of Ames; eight grandchildren, Justin, Jocelyn, Brian, Carrie, Colton, Joel, Annalisa and Caleb; six great-grandchildren, Hannah, Clare, Jacob, Abigail, Andrew and Ava; a brother, David DeLancey of Waterloo; a sister, Virginia (George) Carsner of Iowa City; and two brothers-in-law, Carl Schwandt of Costa Mesa, Calif., and Donald (Connie) Beery of Hampton.

Preceded in death by two brothers in infancy; and three sisters, Margaret Schwandt, and two in infancy.

Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday at St. Timothy's United Methodist Church, Cedar Falls, with burial in Garden of Memories, Waterloo. Public visitation from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Richardson Funeral Service, and also for an hour before services Wednesday at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Girl Scouts of America, Boy Scouts of America or Cedar Valley Hospice.
