WATERLOO - David Jon Parsons, 74, of Waterloo, died Friday, Feb. 10, in Waterloo of natural causes.

He was born Feb. 22, 1937, in Columbus, Ohio, son of John L. and Mildred B. Farr Parsons. He married Shirley Fimple, and they later divorced. He married Velma Frost Stefan July 18, 1986, in Waterloo.

He graduated from Waterloo West High School in 1955, and attended Grinnell College. Mr. Parsons was employed with Jewel Tea Co., was a senior membership representative and national trainer for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and worked at the National Federation of Independent Business and National Write Your Congressman, retiring from the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of Washington, D.C. He was a member of Prairie Lakes Church, the Cedar Falls Sertoma club, serving as past president, the Elk's Lodge 290, Assistant Council Commissioner, Winnebago Council, B.S.A., and was the reunion chairman for West High class of 1955 for more than 30 years.

Survived by his wife; two sons: Landon (Cassie) of Stirling, N.J., and Joe (Candice) Stefan of Waterloo; four daughters, Darla (Brian) Hildebrand of Grundy Center, Barbara Powers of Williamsburg, Va., Teresa (Hamp) Batemon III of Mill Creek, Wash., and Ann Stefan of Waterloo; and eight grandchildren.

Preceded in death by a brother, Wayne.

Public visitation: from 4 to 6 p.m. Monday at Parrott & Wood Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Union Cemetery, Lockridge.
